When "without" comes "after..."
Day 5. Pick an everyday item. Describe what your life is like without the item (before) and then describe what your life is like with the item (after). Is it a useful item? Describe why.
Life without came after
Life with was before.
It simply takes up space now
And sits idle on the floor.
Life with meant lots of meals
But they were baked instead of fried.
Life after has us grilling, toasting,
And there's the crock-pot that makes food dry.
There were cookies by the dozen
Now it's half that and no more.
There were casseroles, pies and new recipes.
Now I use it to store pans, and shut the door.
Life without means I don't offer baked goods
For brandings, parties or dinner invites.
In the after I am suddenly pining
For the cookbook meals and dessert delights.
No one will come and fix it,
We live "too far away."
And I'm too small to lift it,
So for now, right there, it stays.
I've never been a fan of cooking.
To say I miss it feels real strange.
But I'm getting bored with what we eat,
Being limited to BBQ and the top of the range.
So is it useful? Yes, for sure.
It's use is very much missed.
If I don't replace this oven pretty soon
I'm going to be super...well, you know.
When Husbeast comes off the mountain
It's oven shopping for him and me
And when that baby's fired up
A cooking fool I'll be!
Maybe. I'm still not a big fan of meal prep...but I do miss my oven...
